TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Celebration of the 70th TNI (Indonesian Armed Forces) Anniversary was held massively at Indah Kiat Harbor, Cilegon, Banten, on Monday, October 5. Various attractions were presented to entertain the audience.
Indah Kiat Harbor is owned by Sinar Mas Group. Sinar Mas CEO Gandi Sulistiyanto says the company charges admission according to the fares applied by the Transportation Ministry and Pelindo. Gandi said the harbor refuses to dock vessels in preparation of the event one week prior to the TNI Anniversary event.
The harbor does not calculate its lost of opportunity and that services will be rescheculed, said Gandi. “This is truely a valuable history. So we don’t calculate the expense,” he said.
Meanwhile, TNI Center for Information Chief Brigadier General Tatang Sulaiman say he has yet know the budget spent for this year’s event.
In a press release at TNI Headquarter Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Sunday, Armed Forces Chief General Gatot Nurmantyo said Indah Kiat was chosen as the location to stage the 70th TNI Anniversary because its supports aerial and sea combat.
Deputy Chief of Defense Committee for the People’s Representative Council Major General (ret) Asril Hamzah Tanjung says TNI are not allowed to hide its budget activities.
“In addition to operational funds, the budget will definitely be added by the government. Because this a major event, there will be additional funds,” he said.
“We are satisfied that TNI is getting stronger, its main weaponry system is becoming modern and increasing,” said Asril.
