TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Director of PD PAM Jaya Erlan Hidayat claimed that end of 2015 PD PAM Jaya and PD PAL Jaya are ready to merge as directed by Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama.
PD PAM Jaya is the city’s drinking water company and PD PAL Jaya manages the city waste water.
"The plan is definite. Hopefully later this year the shape is more visible. There are many advantage, as we will follow the water cycle," said Erlan to Bisnis.com on Sunday, October 4.
Erlan, who is the former finance director of PT Jakarta Propertindo admitted that Jakarta considered merger of the two city-owned companies was because of their similar working model, where every user of clean water will surely discard their waste water.
According to Erlan, waste water managed by PD PAL are likely to be reprocessed for drinking water that is managed by PAM Jaya.
"Well, if it is so, why don’t we combine the management? That's the idea. The immediate goal is at least water from drainage rivers in Jakarta can be processed as raw water. Not the black water as we see on the rivers in Jakarta right now," he explained.
