PLN Notes 40MW Electricity Deficit

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The State-Owned Electricity company PT PLN reported that the amount of electricity deficit in North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, and Gorontalo will reach 40 MW by the end of 2015.
Baringin Nababan, General Manager of PLN Suluttenggo in in Sulawesi, said that additional electricity deficit is prompted by the potential disturbances of several power plants, incomplete construction of some power plants, and the ongoing dry season.
"About 45 percent of power plants are diesel-fueled, 25 percent are hydro power plants, and the rest are geothermal power plants," said Baringin as quoted by Bisnis.com on Monday, October 5, 2015.
Baringin added that a number of hydro power plants experienced in a power decrease due to the dry season. In addition, several power plants often experiences technical interference and routine maintenance, forcing PLN to reduce electricity supply.
