BI Survey: Consumer Confidence Lowest In September

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Result of Bank Indonesia’s monthly survey of consumer confidence shows in September 2015, level of confidence is at the pessimistic level with an index of 97.5, Bisnis Indonesia reported Monday, October 5.
The score is the lowest point so far this year and in the last five years. Index below 100 indicates pessimistic level, while above 100 reflects an optimistic level.
As quoted in the BI consumer survey, weakening consumer confidence index was affected by the current economic conditions index (IKE), which was at the 87.8 level and consumer expectations index (IEK) at 107,2 level.
Although IEK in September 2015 was at 107.2 or still reflects the optimism, the level was down compared to the position in August 2015 at the level of 124.
Throughout January to August 2015, consumer confidence was still at the optimistic level as reflected in the above 100 IKE.
