TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The Financial Services Authority (OJK) will not be announcing the names of banks categorized as domestic systemically important banks (DSIB). OJK chief Muliaman D Hadad said the decision was made based on the fact that list could change at any time, given the many numbers of banks Indonesia has.
"Moreover, the real goals of this categorizing are to supervision and development," Hadad said in Jakarta Friday, October 3, as reported by Bisnis Indonesia.
Hadad said the authority will continue to monitor banks categorized as having systemic importance. These banks would be mandated to raise their capitals, including capital conservation buffer, countercyclical buffer, and capital surcharge.
These additional capitals will be required particularly in the context of adhering to the Basel III requirement. The Indonesian banking industry will start implementing Basel III policies next year, with a capital adequacy ratio (CAR) of 14 percent.
Indonesia's top 10 banks are currently Bank Mandiri, BRI, BCA, BNI, CIMB Niaga, Danamon, Permata, Panin, BTN and BII.
