Bengawan Solo Festival Features Lantern, Boat Festival

TEMPO.CO, Bojonegoro - Duck-chasing competition, kite and boat festival, and lantern festival cast festivity at the second Bengawan Solo Festival recently. The festival expected more than 10,000 spectators that flocked the eight-kilometer stretch of the Solo river.
The festival, which has been made as a mascot for Bojonergoro tourism, is intended to expose exoticism of the longest river on Java island.
“This is a flagship mascot for our local tourism," said Amir Sahid, Head of Bojonegoro Culture and Tourism Agency.
Imam Wahyu Santoso, the person in charge for the festival said that in the lantern-floating festival, participants were asked to write a note about Solo river’s condition on a piece of paper, which then put inside the colorful paper lanterns. Bojonegoro Regent, Suyoto would then pick one of the floating lantern and read the note inside it.
