TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Eid al-Adha prayers in Karubaga, Tolikara Regency went well. Based on a report by Antara, the prayer was conducted on Thursday morning, September 24, 2015 on the Chaerul Ummah mosque located next to the Karubaga District Military Command.
The prayer was led by imam Syekh Aleh Shaleh Muhammad Ali Djabir. Among the congregations were Social Affairs Minister Khofifah Indar Parawangsa. There prayer was later followed up by a handover of qurban animals by the Minister to Ali Muktar, imam of the Karubaga mosque
Chief of the Papua Police Insp. Gen. Paulus Waterpauw confirmed that the prayer went without any disturbances. Paulus also thanked the National Police Headquarter for giving special attention to securing Eid al-Adha festivities in Tolikara.
Paulus said that the Police will not be caught off-guard and will prevent the Eid al-Fitr incident on July 2015 from repeating. Previously on July 2015, an angry mob from Gereja Injil di Indonesia (GIDI) attacked muslims who were conducting Eid –al Fitr prayer in Tolikara.
Agus Rianto, Chief of Public Information of the Public Relation Division at the National Police Headquarter said that additional personnel from the Mobile Brigade and the Indonesian National Army were deployed to provide extra security for muslims conductig Eid al-Adha prayer in Tolikara.
