TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gustian, a machinist of commuter train (KRL) 1156 serving the Jakarta Kota-Bogor route, trapped between the train that he operated and another commuter train 1154 serving the same route after a collision took place at Juanda Station on Wednesday, September 23, 2015.

Moerat Sitompoul, a passenger of KRL 1154 said that the machinist’s left leg was trapped between the train’s control lever and the wall of the machinist room. Moerat said that the machinist cried for help in pain to be freed. Commuter train officers that happened to be at the scene immediately helped the 30-year-old machinist.

“About 10-15 of his colleagues immediately helped him,” Moerat said on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, adding that the efforts could not release the machinist yet.

Moerat added that some of the passengers sustained light injuries.

“There was a pregnant lady, but she wasn’t injured and got shocked,” Moerat added.

Moerat said that at 03:37 p.m., the train the he took stopped at line 2 at the Juanda Station. About a minute or two, another train came in and crashed into the last car of his train.

“Passengers rushed to get out of the train,” he said.

After that, Moerat added, brown smoke was seen coming out of women-only car of the KRL 1156. However, the damage was not severe.

“The collision was not really hard. I wasn’t thrown out of my seat. I also carried a bike with me, but it wasn’t damaged,” Moerat explained.

Until this article is published, train operator PT KAI Commuter Jabodetabek (KCJ) was still evacuating the passengers and towing the collided trains. PT KCJ spokesperson Eva Chairunisa predicted that the evacuation would last for an hour, and the KRL services for the Jakarta Kota-Bogor Route would be interrupted. Eva suggested KRL passengers to switch transportation mode.
