TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian race driver Rio Haryanto is aiming to win in the feature race of Grand Prix 2 Italy at Autodromo Nazionale Monza on Saturday, September 5.
Rio, who starts from the sixth believes the chance is wide open for him to win.
“First race [Saturday] requires a precise pit stop strategy and I target to finish on the podium. Chance to overtake at Monza is wide open. I will fight all out for ‘Indonesia Raya’ to be sang in Italy,” said the Campos Racing driver in a press release received by Tempo on Friday, September 4.
Rio acquired the sixth position after finished as the sixth fastest in a tight qualifier. He was only 0.626 second behind Pierrre Gasly who gets the pole position.
In the feature race, Rio will compete on a 173.481-kilometer racing track, or 30 laps or 60 minutes. Meanwhile in sprint race on Sunday, Rio will need to drive on 121.344-kilometer distance which is 21 laps or 45 minutes.
Rio is now sitting on the third in the standing with 109 points with Russia’s Sergey Sirotkin stands closely on the fourth with same points. First place is still occupied by Germany Stofel Vandoome from Art Grand Prix with 233 points. The second place is claimed by American racer Alexander Rossi with 128.
