TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The second Bali Hockey 6’s Festival (BHF) is being held today in Seminyak, Bali until tomorrow, September 6. The event, which is held by the Indonesian Hockey Foundation gathers active hockey athletes, amateur and hockey fans in one fun recreational sporting event.
“We hope that the event becomes a parameter or an option for hockey lovers to meet and get involved in positive competitions in a frame of recreational sport,” said Ronaldo Manalu, the Chairman I of the Indonesian Hockey Foundation in Seminyak, Bali, on September 4.
Such recreational sport has been actively held in South East Asia and contributing to a country’s tourism. The Singapore Cricket Club International Hockey 6s for example, has been held since 1992. Similar competitions are also routinely held in Thailand and Hongkong.
As many as 12 men’s team and 3 women’s team are taking part in the half-competition system. Each team will play five times in qualification session.
“Because this is intended to be a fun sporting event, so we arrange that they play as many times as possible,” said Ronaldo, adding that local team will have opportunity to play with foreign teams to gain experience by playing alongside foreign hockey players.
