TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Maluku Governor Said Assegaf said that the Maluku Fair held at Pattimura Park was a momentum to promote natural resources in eleven regencies/cities of the province.

“The Maluku Fair that involves entrepreneurs, investors, banks and small enterprises must become a platform to promote natural resources owned by each regency in Maluku,” Said Assegaf said during an opening speech of the event on Friday, September 4.

Said also called on each regency and small enterprises to promote Maluku in order to attract investors and increase the number of foreign tourists visiting Maluku. However, Said reminded regional heads and public to preserve and manage the natural resources wisely to keep them sustainable for many generations.

Said, who was accompanied by Ambon Mayor Richard Louhenapessy, revealed that Ambon was selected to hold the Maluku Fair in Ambon to support program called “Mangente Ambon” that means “come and visit Ambon”, initiated by the city administration.

In addition, the event was held to commemorate the 440th anniversary of Ambon that will fall on September 7, 2015.

“We all have responsibility to build and develop Ambon as Maluku capital and a destination for foreign tourists,” he said.

Said also hopes that the Mangente Ambon would attract all Ambon people who are living outside Maluku and overseas to come home and build their hometown.

“Many Maluku and Ambon people who are successful outside Maluku and overseas. They must be called on to come home to Ambon and share their success with and motivate their brothers and sisters in Ambon to work hard,” he added.

Said promised that the Maluku Fair would be held as an annual event to boost the development in the province and to attract investments in various sectors.
