TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Commissioner General Anang Iskandar, the newly-appointed National Police Head of Criminal investigations (Bareskrim) said that current investigations into cases, such as the alleged corruption case involving PT Pelindo II would be carried on after his inauguration.

“The current investigated cases cannot be stopped. The law enforcement must be continued,” Anang said on Saturday, September 5.

Bambang Soesatyo, a member of House of Representatives Commission III overseeing legal affairs, said that he would encourage Anang to continue investigations into cases handled by former Head of Bareskrim Budi Waseso.

“The [House of Representatives] Commission III will monitor the cases until they are closed,” Bambang promised.

Anang revealed that his leadership style would be different from Budi Waseso’s, by prioritizing preventions instead of enforcements.

“Each case is unique. We can’t use the same method in solving all cases,” Anang said.

M. Naseer, a commissioner at the National Police Commission, expressed optimism that Anang would be able to solve cases without causing commotion. Naseer added that Anang would always put performance above publications or controversies.

“I hope that public will not be concerned if Anang works quietly. He prefers to be under the radar. But he will deliver maximum results,” Naseer said.
