Rupiah Opens Down 2pts Thursday After USD Rebound

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Rupiah fell 2 points or 0.01% to Rp14,139/USD as the US dollar index moved higher in the morning trade Thursday, September 3, as quoted by Bloomberg Dollar Index.
The US dollar index as quoted by Bloomberg, in trading Thursday opened up 0.16% to 95.979. On Wednesday, the dollar index closed up 0.40% to 95.828.
At 7:08 am, the index rose 0.19% to 96.006, and moved in the range of 95.968 to 96.022.
The US dollar index rose after the release of improved employment data, thereby potentially pushing the US central bank the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates, amid slowing economic growth in China.
The US dollar index rebounded on Wednesday, and continued significant strengthening on Thursday morning.
The private sector employs 190,000 people in August, compared to July increased in number 177,000.
While the Department of Labor will release the employment figures on Friday. While the Fed's Beige Book showed the economy grew in most areas of the US.
"Demand for the dollar remains strong, but investors are also wary of the risks that could hamper the pace of China's rise in the Federal Reserve," said Keisuke Hino, Mizuho Bank Ltd. Foreign Exchange trader, as quoted by Bloomberg, on Thursday.
As previously announced, the Feds will hold a meeting of 16-17 September 2015.
