TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama said that PT Trans Batavia, Transjakarta bus operator, is having issues, as the city administration has often reprimanded it. “We have gave them several sanctions,” said Ahok in the City Hall on Wednesday September 5.
Previously, the Public Service Division of Transjakarta reprimanded PT Trans Batavia for being late in delivering payroll on February, Such negligence has caused dozens of driver to go on a strike, hence interrupting service.
On Monday evening, PT Trans Batavia came under heavy fire as 18 buses were caught on fire in their pool. No casualty has been reported. The police are currently investigating the cause of fire.
Ahok said that the city administration is considering to impose another sanction for the operator. He also considers to replace PT Trans Batavia once its term contract is done.
PT Trans Batavia is a veteran operator in Transjakarta bus. The company first meddled in the business in 2006.
