TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat said that there are three main problems exist in slum area, those are flood, fire, and disease.
According to Djarot, slum residence is identical with stink, dirty, and uncomfortable living place. No wonder if the residents then often get sick like acute respiratory ailment (ISPA), vomiting , and mosquito-borne disease.
"Slum areas mostly have no proper drainage system. Their houses often flooded when heavy rain pours," Djarot said, Tuesday (9/1).
He appealed all city mayors to collect data of slum areas, and report it back next week.
"We need accurate data to take action as soon as possible," he asked.
