TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 2018 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group will take place in Bali Nusa Dua, Indonesia, in October 2018, following a vote by the Boards of Governors of the two institutions.
“I would like to thank the Government and people of Indonesia for hosting the 2018 Annual Meetings,” said Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the IMF, in a release received by Tempo on Wednesday, September 2.
“This will be a great opportunity to showcase Indonesia’s impressive economic and social achievements, as well as the culture, beauty, and vitality of the country,” she added. The IMF chief is visiting Indonesia to participate in a high-level regional conference to be held in Jakarta on September 1-2, entitled, "Future of Asias Finance: Financing for Development 2015”.
The seminar, organised jointly by Bank of Indonesia and the IMF will discuss new financing modalities for the region’s dynamic emerging market economies.
The World Bank Annual Meetings bring together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, private sector executives, civil society, media and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, global financial stability, poverty eradication, jobs and growth, economic development, aid effectiveness and climate change.
