TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Thousands of protesting labourers have begun to move towards the President's Palace, after having congregated on the intersection of Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat on Tuesday afternoon.
The masses - which consists of members of the Confederation of Indonesian Labour Unions (KSPI) led by Said Iqbal, the Confederation of Indonesian Prosperous Labour Union (KSBSI) led by Mudhofir, as well as the Confederation of All-Indonesian Labour Unions (KSPSI) led by Andi Ghani, and scores of other labour unions - began their march from the Horse Statue on Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat.
While marching to the orations and instructions blasted through several command cars that led the march, protesters held banners on which their complaints were emblazoned - among which are calls for lowering the prices of basic commodities, the rejection of the influx of foreign workers, as well as better National Health Coverage (BPJS).
It is known that the masses had begun to congregate around the horse statue since 09:00 local time.
