TEMPO.CO, Padang Chief of Indonesian Police, General Badrodin Haiti, has asked that the conflict between the army and police in Polewali Mandar (Polman), Sulawesi, to be resolved immediately. The district police must finish it," said Badrodin on Monday August 31.

Badrodin also said that the resolution has to involve both forces. "I have had a talk with the Army Chief," he said, while affirming that they have investigated witnesses.

Previously, Chief of Military Command VII Wirabuana, Major General Bachtiar has stated an alert 1 status in Polman. The security status was enacted following the death of Second Private Yuliadi, member of Infantry Battalion 721 Makkasau, on Sunday August 30.

"All privates are standing by on base. None is allowed to leave without absence. All weapons are also stored," he said.
