Jakarta to Develop MICE Tourism Concept

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -The Jakarta Provincial Government will develop the tourism concept into meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE). With this concept, tourism sector in the capital will be divided into two concepts. Whereabout MICE concept will be applied in Cities area and Island tourism will be applied in Seribu Island.

Head of Jakarta Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), Tuty Kusumawati stated that Mice is a concept that will be used for capital tourism development.

“Tourism potential in capital could be boost through MICE. City starts to organize the service system with One-Stop Integrated Service (PTSP). It brings easiness for tourism business practitioners,” she said, Sunday (8/30).

Besides that, City Administration is also building several infrastucture in Transportation field to boost MICE developing in capital they are Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) as well Rapid Transit Bus (BRT).

“By those infrastructure, Jakarta is ready to its MICE concept,” she uttered.

Kusumawati further said, tourism development can also be focused in Seribu Islands. But offered different fields. Seribu Islands will focus on maritime tourism.

The development concept is imitated in the Maldives, which had applied first.

“Maldives developed resort in Island and build hotel to hold meeting, they are excellent in concepting MICE,” he added.

Furthermore, Jakarta have another advantage that is heritage tourism. “We’ll combine MICE concept with heritage things. We’ll large heritage area around City,” she closed.
