TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - East Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Umar Faruq told Tempo on Sunday, August 30, said that the bomb found in Kalimalang, East Jakarta, could be assembled by a professional.
“The position of components, such as battery attached to the iron bar, seem to be arranged by a professional,” Umar said.
Earlier on Saturday, August 29, residents of Cipinang Melayu, East Jakara, were shocked with a finding of an allegedly assembled bomb. The bomb was discovered by a resident named Hasan.
Umar revealed that the bomb, resembled a tube with yellow and green cables, wrapped in plastic bag.
“The Jakarta Police’s bomb squad is still investigating the material contained in the tube,” Umar explained.
Umar added that the bomb did not explode since it was soaked under water for a long time, causing the battery and other components malfunctioned. However, the bomb squad did not take a chance and neutralize the bomb. The scene had been declared clear after the bomb squad combed the area.
