TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Management of the photo-sharing media Instagram has announced that users can now upload their photos and video in both landscape and portrait format. It has been known that Instagram used to allow only square format to be uploaded to the app.
“It turns out that nearly one in five photos or videos people post aren’t in the square format, and we know that it hasn’t been easy to share this type of content on Instagram,” the announcement on Instagram’s blog says on Friday, August 28.
The square-only format has forced many users to crop the photo to fit in that results in the photo not displayed in whole. Now, the app lets users choose between landscape and portrait formats by tapping icons available when uploading photos or video.
“Once you share the photo, the full-sized version of it will appear to all of your followers in feed in a beautiful, natural way."
