TEMPO.CO, Frankfurt - People of Frankfurt swarmed the Main Riverbank, curious to watch festivity of art and music performance held at the Museumsuferfest on Saturday August 29. Indonesian musicians were also seen setting up equipments on the stage for their participation in the festival.

On the other side of the river, at the Angewandte Kunst Museum to be exact, Indonesian architecture exhibition was being held. The exhibition entitled “Tropicality:Revisited” presents tropical climate-friendly housing designs by 12 young Indonesian architects. The designs mostly offer eco-friendly and energy-saving housings.

“Tropicality becomes relevant when it is related to the current situation, where we are all face threats of energy crisis and global warming,” said Avianti Armand, an architect and one of the curators of the exhibition.

The exhibition that runs until January 17, 2016, was opened by the Director of German Architecture Museum, Peter Schmal alongside Indonesian Ambassador Fauzi Bowo. The opening day was enlivened by performance of traditional art Barong and Gandrung from Banyuwangi and Kua Etnika music group.

In addition to Schmal and Fauzi Bowo, Frankfurt Mayor Peter Feldmann and Indonesian Consulate General Wahyu Hersetiati also attended the opening ceremony alongwith the committee chiefs responsible for Indonesian team preparation, Goenawan Moehammad and Slamet Rahardjo Djarot.

Total of 23 museums are taking part in this year’s Museumsuferfest. There will be fireworks party at the end of the festival on August 30 where orchestra music are normally played as the background. This time, however, Peter Feldmann promised that it will be Indonesian music played at the fireworks party.
