TEMPO.CO, Purwakarta - The Government of Purwakarta Regency, West Java is set to gather art communities from around the world in the 2015 World Culture Carnival that will be held tonight, Saturday August 29. According to Wiebysono, a member of the event orginizer, the carnival marks the peak night of the cultural event series held in the city during this month.
As many as 13 countries including Malaysia, Philippines, Egypt, South Africa, Mexico, Italy, among others, are participating in the event. Indonesia as the host is represented by Sukasari art group from Gianyar, Bali.
“We had performed on the stage for 15 minutes yesterday, we will have more time to explore in the carnival party,” said Mohamad Ashari, a Malaysian choreographer.
“We really appreciate the cultural festival in Purwakarta for it will promote a better spirit of togetherness between countries.”
The participants of the carnival will march along Veteran-Sudriman-Martanegara street and finish at Maya Datar park. According to Wiebysono, the road will be closed for traffic starting from 16:00 local time.
Purwakarta regent Dedi Mulyadi said the monthful cultural event has increased tourists’ interest to the city’s tourism.
