TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Member of the Budget Agency of the House of Representatives (DPR) Eka Sastra said that regional funds that are parked in Regional Development Bank (BPD) reach Rp 273 trillion.
According to her, this happened because many regional governments are more business-oriented.
"The funds are parked in order to earn interest. In fact, the funds can be used as productive credits for farmers and fishermen,” Eka said in Jakarta on Saturday, August 29.
In the meantime, Executive Director of the Regional Autonomy Implementation Monitoring Committee Robert Endi Jaweng said that the trend of parking the funds in BPD tends to increase every year.
According to him, in 2012, there was a total of Rp. 199 trillion that was parked and in 2013, the amount rose to Rp 230 trillion.
"It should be a warning for the central government to discontinue this practice,” he said.
