Jakarta Police Shoot to Death Motorcycle Thief, Injured Other

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - General Crime Unit of the Jakarta Police shot to death a motorcycle thief, Doni bin Kriah. Another thief, Suni Alamsyah, was also shot in the knee as he was trying to escape when the police tried to catch him.
The shooting of the two thieves happened in Cijantung, East Jakarta.
Adj. Comr. Sr. Eko Hadi Santoso from the Jakarta police said the police shot them because the two men were considered dangerous criminals.
"They have on several occasions committed brutal thievery. If necessary, they do not hesitate to shoot their victims with assemble rifles," he said on Friday, August 28.
Previously, on 19 April 2015 the police shot to death two motorcycle thieves also in Cijantung.
Eko further said that the targets of this criminal group are motorcycles that are parked.
During the investigation, Eko said that the police found that in the past two months, Suni has stolen 50 motorcycles.
