TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia this year is set to export 100,000 hatching eggs (worth Rp2.72 billion) to Myanmar.
Director General of Husbandry and Animal Health of the Agriculture Ministry Muladno Bashar in Jakarta on Friday (28/8) said that the export of the eggs is done by poultry Japfa Comfeed in three stages until the end of this year, with the first shipping to be done on 8 September 2015.
"The export is the first one since Indonesia was hit by Avian Influenza (AI) in 2004,” he said.
In the meantime, Japfa Comfeed has signed an export contract to Myanmar until 2017.
Muladno further said that the process of the egg export is quite complicated because of the adjustment of regulations of the two countries.
However, he said that the Agriculture Ministry facilitated the princess and eventually an agreement was reached to export the eggs to the country.
