TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Yenti Garnasih, a member of the committee tasked to select Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) commissioners, confirmed that her team would postpone the submission of candidate names to President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.
According to Yenti, the KPK selection team needs to settle a number of administrative issues.
"In addition, the President will need to be out of Jakarta on August 31, 2015," Yenti said at the State Secretariat Minister on Friday, August 28, 2015.
Yenti said that the delay was expected to be no more than a week, and Jokowi would have two weeks to review the team's report.
"Within three months, the President will submit the names to the House of Representatives," she added.
Earlier on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, the KPK selection team completed the interview stage with 19 candidates. The team opened a channel to receive inputs from public, law enforcers and various institutions about candidates' track records.
KPK team selection chief Destry Damayanti admitted that she would find a way to extend the verification time to screen the candidates to eight names. However, Jokowi requested the candidate names to be on schedule as set by the law.
