TEMPO.CO, Kupang - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Friday, August 28, inaugurates six Diesel Power Plants (PLTD) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
The inauguration of the plants are part of the 50-diesel power plants spread throughout six provinces in Indonesia including Aceh, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, NTT, Maluku and Papua.
Those six new power plants are located in Oepoli Village, Amfoang Timur District, Kupang Regency; Naekake A Village, Mutis District, Timor Tengah Utara (TTU) Regency; Kefamenanu City Distrit, TTU; Kobalima District, Malaka Regency; Atambua City, Belu Regency; and Ndao Island in Rote Ndao Regency.
President Jokowi inaugurated in Batang Electric Steam Power Plant (PLTU), Central Java, by using a video conference for chatting.
In NTT, the inauguration is held in Naekake A. Village, Mutis District, TTU, that borders with Oekusi District, Democratic Republic of Timor Leste.
The diesel power plant generates power of 2 x 250kW or 500kW. “The inauguration was held at 10:45am, said General Manager PLN (State Electricity Company) NTT Region Richard Safkaur.
Although it had just been inaugurated, PLN NTT has turned on the electricity in some locations coinciding with the celebration of Indonesia’s 70th Independence Day.
Those locations that has been recently powered by electricity includes, Ndao Island, Rote Ndao Regency, Oepoli Village, Kupang Regency, and Naekake A. Village, TTU Regency.
