TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- Police had thwarted a massive narcotics smuggling of 94kg meth and 112,189 ecstasy pills from abroad into the country. The narcotics worth Rp 206 billion was carried by a Guangzhou China-Jakarta international network courier.
“Besides confiscating evidences, the four suspects were able to be detained,” said Soekarno-Hatta Resort Police Chief Sr.Comm. CH Patoppoi said Thursday, August 27.
The smuggling of these narcotics started from the suspicion of Soekarno-Hatta customs officials toward the luggages of two Chinese citizens who had just arrived in terminal D airport on Sunday, August 9.
They came to Indonesia using Malaysia Airlines flight MH-377 destinations Guangzhou-Kuala Lumpur-Jakarta.
Their suspicions were proven after an intensive investigation was performed. Six kilograms of meth packed in 10 plastics were concealed inside the suspects’ luggages.
Based on the findings, investigators from Customs and Soekarno-Hatta Airport Resort Police conduct a follow-up by reviewing the technical control delivery from Aug 10-21. “88kg of meth and 112,189 ecstasy pills mixed in caustic soda were discovered,” said Patoppoi.
