TEMPO.CO, Bandung - The National Police Criminal Investigations Agency (Bareskrim) found 192 foreign passports during a raid in a house in Parongpong, West Bandung. The house was used as the main operations of an international narcotics and cyber crime syndicate.
Head of Breskrim, Commissioner General Budi Waseso, claimed that the house hosted 33 people, 30 of whom are from Taiwan while the remaining three are Indonesian citizens.
“[However] we found 192 foreign passports from Taiwan, China, Vietnam, and Mongolia. We are now verifying the evidence,” said Budi on Thursday, August 27. He added that the syndicate is likely recruited by a larger international cell, running cyber operation in Indonesian soil.
“We are now investigating how they got here at the first place. There must be a [larger] syndicate,” he said.
The arrest of the 30 foreign nationals began on Wednesday when the police raided the house. The 30 Taiwan citizens have only been in Indonesia for a month, allegedly entering the nation through various waypoints.
