ESDM Launches Oil and Gas Roadmap

TEMPO.CO, Surabaya - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) launched the National Natural Gas Policy Roadmap 2014-2030, as part of building the future of energy and the overall Indonesian economy.
“The Road Map book is like us looking ahead, so that national development can be structured and directed, and not sporadic," said Director General of Oil and Mineral Resources Ministry, I Gusti Nyoman Wiratmaja while attending the book launch in Surabaya, East Java, on Wednesday, August 26.
He said the books are officially published by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is the answer to the demands of public openness and transparency, because it explains clearly the oil and gas industry nationwide.
"This book could be a reference to know everything about the country’s oil and gas industry, because Indonesia's natural gas reserves are very large and are expected to find new reserves," he said.
Furthermore, the 218-page book mentions five main things that are part of the national gas policy roadmap, such as infrastructure, allocation, pricing, regulatory bodies and government support.
"The main purpose of this book to realize the initial format governance policies of national natural gas, and supports the resilience and national energy independence," he said.
The initial preparation of the book, also involves all leaders in the Ministry of Energy, plus a number of stakeholders and relevant institutions.
"We hope with this book could facilitate the government in determining appropriate policies," he said.
