TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian men's double shuttler Hendra Setiawan is looking forward for his second olympic experience in Rio de Janeiro next year after securing third world champion title with Muhammad Ahsan as team mate in the recent BWF world championship.
“I brought home a gold medal in 2008 olympic. But I was absent in 2012 olympic,” Hendra said in Jakarta on Wednesday
“This highly motivates me. I want to win more golds."
In 2008 Beijing olympic, Hendra was paired with Markis Kido who also played alongside him when he won his first world champion title in Kuala Lumpur in 2007. If Hendra managed to scured gold medals in Rio next year, the 31-year-old will become the first Indonesian who win two gold medals in olympic.
PP PBSI Chairman Gita Wirjawan is optimistic that Hendra will be able to accomplish his mission.
“He knows what it takes to be a champion,” said Guta.
“Before the World Championship, he did something different and particular for sometime, something that I can not mention because it’s his secret.”
