TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, said that it is difficult to prevent gratification in the Jakarta City Administration, as he only relies on reports from the gratified officials. "Preventing it is difficult," said Ahok on Tuesday August 18.

Nevertheless, Ahok plans to empower the role of provincial government to prevent gratification in the scope of the city administration. "We will empower city inspectorate in monitoring officials," he said.

Previously, Head of Jakarta City Inspectorate, Lasro Marbun, stated that three of city officials from the Youth and Sports Department have received gratification. He, however, did not say the sort of gratification that the three officials had received.

Lasro only said that the officials received graft from their partners. He added that such graft occurs not only in the respective agency, given that the inspectorate is investigating two other graft suspects.
