TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pertamina's Branch Office for Jogjakarta and Central Java is testing the market's reception of Pertalite at a gas station in Lempuyangan on Jl. Kompol Suprapto in Jogjakarta on Friday, August 14, 2015.
"In this occassion, the market is actually quite receptive to the introduction of the new variant - in fact, we managed to sell 800 litres of Pertalite within four hours," said the Branch's Marketing Manager, Freddy Anwar.
According to Anwar, Pertalite is meant to be a cleaner alternative to the best-selling Premium - it is known that Pertalite has a Research Octane Number (RON) of 90, higher than Premium's RON of 88.
"This test in Jogjakarta is a natural progression, after we launched similar tests in several major cities across Indonesia, including Surabaya and Jakarta," said Anwar. "In both cases, the response was overwhelmingly positive, and now we have managed to sell around 4.5 kilolitres per day."
Once the test in Lempuyangan is completed, Pertamina plans to expand the test to 18 other gas stations across 10 regencies in Jogjakarta and Central Java.
"By the end of August, we aim to distribute Pertalite from 59 gas station across the area, with prices starting at Rp8,400 per litre," continued Anwar, who hopes that Pertalite will be received by consumers as a viable and cost-efficient alternative to Premium and Pertamax.
