TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- Civil Society Coalition has urged President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo to attend the 70th UN General Assembly on 25-27 September 2015 that will discuss the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda.
"Jokowi’s presence (at the assembly) is a manifestation of Indonesia’s support, political commitment, and enthusiasm in implementing SDGs," kata INFID Senior Program Officer for the Post-2015 Development, Hamong Santono at INFID Secretariat on Friday, August 7.
SDGs, Hamong said, would complete and help the government to implement its National Mid Term Development Plan (RPJMN) as well as Jokowi’s vision and mission (Nawacita).
Hamong urged the President to be present in the assembly and prepare measures to integrate SDGs with the national development plans
SDGs consist of 17 goals and 169 targets. Some of the goals are among others fighting against famine and extreme poverty, reducing economic gap within the country and among countries, reaching gender equality, improving water and energy management as well as taking immediate measures to battle climate change.
