TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat refused a proposal from the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) about returning the management of Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) fund to school party.
"I refused the DPRD's proposal, the KJP is designed for students. It is they who should receive immediate attention,” said Djarot, at City Hall, Thursday (8/4).
He deemed that in the current KJP management, school party can only assist providing school equipments through cooperative which are cheaper than price market.
"By this way, children can also learn how to manage cooperative with the help of teacher and parent,” he uttered.
He conveyed that the Jakarta government's consideration in providing the card to students is to prevent any misuse of KJP purchase.
“Don’t let KJP use for non-education needs,” he explained.
Djarot stressed the mechanism of KJP’s non-cash system or debit is effectively preventing any misuse. Evidently, the use of KJP can be monitored.
“Whether it is right on target or not,” he finished.
