TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Pekanbaru City Government will raise the highest retail price (HET) for the three kilograms LPG. The hike will be put into effect next week.

Mas IRBA Sulaiman, head of trade department at the Pekanbaru Industry and Trade Office, said they are currently holding a discussion about the pricing.

"We initially planned to raise the price after the Premium gasoline hike. However, the Premium price hike was cancelled so we are holding another discussion," he said on Wednesday, August 5, 2015.

The decision to raise the LPG price was made following the increase of several goods' prices as well as workers minimum wage.

Irba did not say how much the price would be raised, but he said the new price will not reach Rp20,000. He also said that his department will make sure that the price increase would not burden the public and boost inflation.

Riau is also planning to increase the retail price for 3-kg LPG. The prvince had set a new price, which is Rp 20,000.

The three kilograms LPG is currently being sold for Rp 16,000 per canister.
