TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is working on a 35,000-MW long-term power plants project. The project was initiated by President Joko Widodo as part of an effort to provide electricity access for more Indonesians.
The project, which has an investment worth of around Rp1,100 trillion, is widely open for the private sector. That's why, Energy Minister ESDM Sudirman Said says his ministry will be more selective in determining the requirement its takes for developer to join the projects.
From the 35,000 MW of electricity to be generated, state power company Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN)will only be managing 5,000 MW while the rest will be managed by the government and private firms, the minister said on Monday, August 3.
Sudirman said the ministry had had identified some 60 companies that lack requirement to join the project.
"Only 25 developers are eligible to join the project bid," he said.
