TEMPO.CO, Kupang - East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) police are still questioning two people who are allegedly members of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The men were arrested in Alor Regency a couple days ago.
"We are still questioning these two men because we cannot ensure whether they are really member of ISIS or not,” said Director of General Crime Division of East Nusa Tenggara police Comr. Sr. Sam Kawengian to state-owned Antara news agency in Kupang on Sunday.
Sam added that the police also arrested two men from Blang Merang village, Pantar Barat district when they were circulating pamphlets that contain a call for Pulau Alor residents to join ISIS.
Acccording to temporary questioning result, the police said that both men had coordinated with NTT Indonesian Ulema Council (NTT) before circulating the pamphlets, whose contents, according to them, are taken from the Holy Qoran.
"The men said that the contents of the pamphlets are teachings from their holy book and the pamphlets did not mean to call on residents in Pulau Alor to join ISIS,” Sam said.
