ExxonMobil Confirmed Worker Brawls in Cepu Block

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- ExxonMobil Indonesia confirmed reports of unrest in work area EPC 1 Banyu Urip, Cepu, Bojonegoro, East Java, on Saturday, August 1, 2015.
Vice President of Public and Government Affairs ExxonMobil Indonesia Erwin Maryoto, explained that the incident involving the security of workers and subcontractors around 11:30am
“A number of workers employed through subcontractors Tripatra-Samsung, were not allowed to leave the work area early during lunch time,” he said through an email statement Saturday afternoon.
Tripatra-Samsung the a contractor working on EPC 1 area. "Some of the workers became upset, and the situation peaked."
The incident caused damage to buildings and vehicles, he added. "We've contacted the subcontractor and the authorities to deal with this situation."
Meanwhile, when confirmed via telephone, Communications Manager of ExxonMobil Rizka Lakshmi declared the situation at the site is now under control. “No one was hurt,” he said.
