TEMPO.CO, Semarang - Dani Sriyanto, secretary of Democratic Party's Central Java Executive Board, admitted that the Party's Central Executive Board had issued double recommendation letters for two regional head candidates in Wonogiri, Central Java.
Dani asserted that the two recommendation letters was related to political manipulation nearing the candidates' registration.
"There's an indication of sabotages between the candidates," Dani told Tempo on Friday, July 31, 2015 in Semarang.
Earlier, a politician from Wonogiri, Subandi, said that he would file a lawsuit against the Democratic Party following his failure to register as a deputy regent candidate. He accused the Democratic Party of issuing double recommendation letters. Subandi admitted that he had gained recommendation letters from three parties, namely the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Democratic Party and the National Awakening Party (PKB) to run as a deputy governor candidate with Yuli Handoko.
However, he was shocked by a fact that the Party also gave its recommendation letter for other candidates, namely Hamid Noor Yasin-Wawan Setya Nugraha. As a result, Yuli-Subandi failed to register as candidate pair. According to Dani, the Democratic Party had processed the recommendation letter for Hamid-Wawan. However, Wawan insisted that he would only run with Sumaryoto.
Since Wawan could not accept that he would run with Hamid, the Democratic Party considered that Hamid and Wawan had refused the party’s recommendation letter. The Democratic Party then processed the recommendation letter for Yuli and Subandi. However, when Sumaryoto resigned from the candidacy, Hamid and Wawan agreed to run in the election.
The Democratic Party was concerned with the fact that it might not be able to endorse any single candidate since the Party’s seat at the Wonogiri Legislative Council would not be enough to endorse its own candidate. As a result, the party issued another recommendation letter for Hamid-Wawan. Dani explained the party would address the issue immediately.
