TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Padang Culture and Tourism Agency will impose a new system for all restaurants in located on beach areas. "This is a program from the agency to help develop the tourism [sector], to make tourist visits more convenient," said Head of the Agency, Dian Fakhri on Thursday, July 30, 2015.
Dian claimed that the agency often received critics concerning food prices in restaurants. Therefore, in an attempt to improve Padang’s image before tourists, the Agency plans to provide recommendation sticker for restaurants.
“[The sticker] is to prevent tourists from being overcharged by restaurants," Dian said.
Dian added that restaurants located at tourism areas, such as the Padang Beach, often does not include food prices in their menu, allowing them to charge tourists with exorbitant prices.
