TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In addition to confiscating US$42,000 and SG$4,000 after conducting a search at the Trade Ministry, Jakarta Police also found a package of marijuana under an official's desk at the ministry's office, Jakarta Police's general crime director Sr. Comr. Krishna Murti said at his office on Wednesday, July 29, 2015.
Krishna explained that he had contacted Jakarta Police's narcotics division and handed over the investigation of the drug. The evidence, Krishna said, had been transferred to the Jakarta Police's narcotic division.
According to Krishna, the finding was not related to an alleged bribery and graft case related to the lengthy dwelling time at Tanjung Priok Port.
"It's just a coincidence," Krishna clarified.
In a bid to expose the bribery case surrounding the lengthy dwelling time in Tanjung Priok port, Police conducted a search at the Trade Ministry's office on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, and arrested six individuals for questioning.
In addition, the Police has named three suspects allegedly involved in the bribery, namely Trade Ministry's foreign trade directorate head, a freelancer at the Trade Ministry and a broker.
