Kalla Push for Dwelling Time System Improvement

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf "JK" Kalla has called on the Trade Ministry to conduct a total reform related to the dwelling time in Tanjung Priok Port. According to JK, the Trade Ministry must immediately improve its system following an alleged graft case surrounding the dwelling time permit.
"[The system] must be changed," Kalla said at his office on Wednesday, July 29, 2015.
JK also called on Police to probe three suspects involved in the case. JK said that the investigation into the case would expose other corruption cases in the ministry, and the government would be able to improve the system.
"Let the law be enforced. They must be punished if they are guilty. I agree that the law enforcer must be assertive for a better economy," JK added.
Earlier, the Jakarta Police named three suspects involved in an alleged graft case surrounding the lengthy dwelling time at Tanjung Priok port. Police seized US$42,000, SG$4,000 and a number of document in a search conducted at the Trade Ministry. Police also detained six individuals for questionings.
