TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian consumers are becoming more wary of the state of the economy - with 37 percent of respondents claiming that they are more anxious about the economy, as opposed to 33 percent in the previous quarter.
According to Nielsen, Indonesians are also increasingly becoming more aware of health issues, with 17 percent of all respondents stating that they are more wary about health issues - up from 14 percent in the last quarter.
Worries about work/life balance has also increased by one percent to 17 percent in the second quarter of 2015, as outlined in Nielsen's Global Survey of Consumer Confidence and Spending Intentions, which was released in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 29, 2015.
The survey revealed that consumers are also becoming more worried about the availability of petrol - a worry which had somewhat subsided in the first quarter of 2015, driven by recent discussions about price hikes.
Despite all these worries, Nielsen found that although consumers are still saving up and investing their capital, consumers are more inclined to spend in the second quarter of 2015 - with 69 percent of all respondents saying that they are willing to sacrifice to save up, compared to 74 percent in the previous quarter. Out of all respondents who chose to spend - 45 percent stated that wanted to use their money to go on holidays.
