TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption convict Ratu Atut Chosiyah has been officially dismissed as Banten Governor through Presidential Decree No. 63/P/2015, according to Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo.
“The decree dismissing Atut as Banten Governor has just been issued after being announced in Banten DPRD meeting,” said Tjahjo on Tuesday.
Therefore, the process of nominating Banten Deputy Governor as Governor can be carried out immediately following an appointment letter from President Joko Widodo through Tjahjo.
Tjahjo said the appointment process will tkae two weeks depending on the nomination process in Banten DPRD plenary session.
Atut was found guilty by the Anti-corruption Court and was sentenced to four years in jail and pay Rp200 million in fine for bribing former Constitutional Court chief justice Akil Mochtar of Rp1 billion.
During the appeal process, the Supreme Court gave a heavier sentence to Atut to seven years in prison.
