TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Java Travel Agency association is aiming for Chinese tourist visits in 2015. Budjianto Ardiansjah, Chairman of the West Java Association of the Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA) said that the number of Chinese tourists could reach up to 100 to 200 million people each year. "Most [Chinese tourists] look for beaches," Budjianto said on Saturday, July 25, 2015.
According to Budijanto, foreign tourists visiting West Java mostly came from Netherland. Generally, these tourists stay for a few days before going to Bali. Meanwhile, Malaysian tourist dominates the number of tourists coming from the Asian region in West Java.
Based on data collected in 2014, the number of foreign tourist visiting West Java reaches up to one million people every year. "This year, foreign tourist visits] is targeted to reach 1.2 million people. Chinese tourists has the largest potential [to visit West Java]," said Budijanto.
In addition to increase the number of foreign tourist visits, ASITA is also attempting to increase tourists visiting period. Currently, the average visiting period of foreign tourist in West Java is four days.
