TEMPO.CO, Pekanbaru - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said on Sunday that the Terra and Aqua satellite found 308 hot spots in Sumatra island and 122 of them were found in Riau province.
As a result, visibility in capital Pekanbaru is only 1 kilometer.
"We received the information on hotspots that were found at 5 am on Sunday,” said Head of Pekanbaru BMKG Sugarin on Sunday.
Sugarin also said that the number of hotspots on Sunday tended to increase from the previous day, which saw 104 hotspots, and said that those hotspots were found in almost all regencies and cities in Riau.
He also said that in general, weather in the province is cloudy with slight haze in the morning and in the evening and the maximal temperature reaches 32-34 degree Celsius.
