TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - During his working visit to East Nusa Tenggara province, President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo on Saturday, July 25, 2015, inaugurated the construction of Raknamo dam in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara.
The construction of the dam has been done since 20 December 2014.
"The construction process of Raknamo Dam has reached 15.76 percent and it is targeted to be completed by 2019," said Teten Masduki a member of the presidential communication team in his written statement on Saturday.
The dam is expected to address the problem of water supply in Kupang regency, to support the development of irrigation system in Naibonat district, Raknamo village and Manusak village, to control floods, to be used as a tourism destination and to support the development of a mini-hydro plant with the capacity of 0.216 megawatt.
In addition to Raknami dam, other dams in the province include Rotiklod dam, Kalhua dam, Napunngete dam, and Mbay dam.
