TEMPO.CO, Padang - Chief Prosecutor of West Sumatra Sugiyono said, of the 88 cases of corruption handled by the West Sumatra Attorney General, only 40 cases has been processed. “There is still 48 cases more. We remain optimistic that we can process these backlog,” he said on Wednesday, July 22, 2015.
Of the 88 cases, about 62 cases of which are cases were filed in 2014. Meanwhile, 26 other cases are were filed in 2015.
Sugiyono said there are several causes for the delay. Among them, there are court cases that have not been terminated or have permanent legal force (inkracht) and there are several cases are awaiting the results of an audit for state loss by the state auditors (BPKP).
"Also there are data of cases handled by prosecutors who have moved away. We will collect the data slowly,” he said.
Meanwhile, cases still in the stage of investigation were about 93 cases. Up to July 2015, the Attorney General could resolve 62 cases, 31 cases still remain unfinished.
